How to apply for a scholarship in China
4 steps. The online form takes about 15 minutes once your documents are ready.
Check that you qualify
Each scholarship sets its own rules on age, grades and study level. Open the page for the scholarship you want and read its requirements first. If you can’t tell whether you qualify, call the office or send a WhatsApp message. The answer is honest and free.
Prepare your documents
Start here, because most delays happen at this step. The Interpol police clearance can take several weeks, so request it first. The Requirements page lists every document with a short instruction for each.
Complete the online application
Fill in the application form on this site. It takes about 15 minutes, and you upload your documents as you go. Submit even if a document is still missing; the office follows up with you for the rest.
Our team reviews your file
The Kampala team checks every application by hand and calls you if anything is missing or unclear. Once your file is complete, it goes to the universities, and you get an update at each stage through to your admission letter, visa and travel.
What you pay for yourself
The scholarship covers tuition, in full or in part. Budget for these costs with your family or sponsor before you apply.
- Flight to China
- One way. Book it after your admission letter and visa arrive.
- Student visa
- Paid at the Chinese embassy in your country. The office prepares the paperwork with you.
- Medical check and insurance
- A medical report before you travel, and health insurance once you arrive.
- Accommodation
- Covered on some programmes. Where it is not, expect 1,800 to 5,400 RMB per year, or 600 to 900 RMB a month where you live off campus.
- Food and day to day living
- Paid monthly by you or your sponsor. Ask the office what current students spend each month.
- Our service fee
- A fixed fee for placement and processing. You see the full amount before you commit.
Scan your documents before you start
The form asks you to upload scans or clear photos. The official application form is filled in from your answers, so there is nothing to print.
